Steps in the Process

When you express an interest in becoming an associate of the School Sisters of St. Francis, you’ll be invited to begin an orientation process with a sister or another associate.  During this time, you will learn about:

  • St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi
  • The history of the School Sister of St. Francis community
  • The community’s charism, spirituality, mission and ministries

You also will be invited to deepen your relationship with the community by participating in:

  • Liturgical celebrations
  • Retreats
  • Workshops
  • Local area community meetings

Once the orientation process is complete, you will determine the ways that you will live out the School Sister of St. Francis community’s mission and values. These will be written into a formal agreement that is ritualized in a simple community celebration.

Associates initially commit for a two-year period. The commitment is renewable for as long as the relationship is mutually meaningful.
