Melinda became an associate “to share the School Sisters of Francis values and mission in my life. I have a deep devotion and love for the Franciscan spirit.” Melinda worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Omaha, Nebraska, for many years, and in that ministry she had the opportunity to “embrace each moment as a graced opportunity to encounter God and reflect God’s love to others.” Melinda is an associate emeritus and lives her current commitment through her ministry of prayer. Melinda lives in Omaha.
Dory became an associate to participate in a spiritual and charitable organization beyond her parish boundaries in Laguna Niguel, California. She joined with her husband, the late Dennis Lamont. The Lamonts had a true interest in the history, mission and Franciscan heritage of the School Sisters of St. Francis. In 2009, Dory became an associate emeritus and said, “prayer is my ministry,” but she has also continued partnering with the sisters in different activities, such as volunteering in El Paso, Texas, during the recent southern border immigration crisis. Dory resides in St. Louis, Missouri.
When Nancy became an associate, she committed to sharing her ability to teach and work with others, and to sharing her compassion and her love with School Sisters of St. Francis. Many years later her commitment has evolved: “to bring Christian values and compassion into my family law practice; and joining with the sisters and associates in supporting their ministries and the community.” Her relationship with the community has grown deeper over these 25 years. “I truly feel a part of the School Sisters of St. Francis community and its mission, not just associated with a group,” Nancy said. “I am blessed to have made strong, lifetime friendships with many sisters and associates; for this I am exceedingly grateful.” Nancy lives in Mission Viejo, California.
