Our foundresses could not have guessed the incredible outcome of their vision and determination to be women of God serving around the world when they left Europe in 1874. Today, with a loving heart, the School Sisters of St. Francis community is truly an international community serving in 11 countries worldwide.
While looking back with gratitude, we embrace the present and look to the future. Today, we are weaving together a new heart for intercultural life and mission, strengthening our mission at both the local and global levels in response to the emerging needs of our times.
We invite you to join us in courageously supporting our sisters and missions that care for people who are struggling at the margins of society. Here is a look at just a few of the needs:
“NOTHING IS TOO FAR…
We Form and Educate. Gifted young women continue to answer the call to religious life. Our Indian provinces in particular are experiencing significant growth. Formation houses provide for their education and spiritual growth, as well as their housing and medical needs. These young women are courageous and resilient, eager to learn and, above all, joyful. Embracing Franciscan spirituality, they come to work and pray, knowing that together they can accomplish what they could not accomplish alone. Your generosity can help our congregation to attract and prepare more young women in all our provinces for ministry and service as consecrated religious.
“NOTHING IS TOO DIFFICULT…
We Minister. Our ministry at Assisi Special School opened in 2009 for Indian children with cognitive and physical challenges, and it continues to grow. Through rehabilitative care and therapy, the children learn to speak, walk, read, care for themselves, and receive vocational training to help them function well in mainstream society. A new building is being constructed to accommodate increasing enrollment. Your financial support will help furnish the school with therapy equipment used to give the children a new level of freedom, expand services, and bring hope to families and their children with special needs.
FOR A LOVING HEART.”
We Celebrate. Our sisters celebrate Jubilee anniversaries from 40 to 80 years of consecrated life this spring. They have given the gifts of their lives as educators and healers, willing servants and effective agents of change, acting for good in local communities and in the world. Their legacy is found in countless lives of people with whom the sisters have engaged. Caring for our retired sisters, who continue to volunteer their services, is a sacred trust. If your life has been touched by a sister, consider making a gift in her honor. Your support is an offering of gratitude for sisters’ past contributions, as well as their current ministries of prayer and presence.
Your gifts of prayer and financial support, woven together with our heartfelt mission, will empower countless women, children and families to walk on pathways of justice and peace, towards joy and hope. We lift a prayer that nothing is too far or too difficult for your loving heart, and hope that peace and joy fill your life always.
With grateful hearts,
Sister Mary Diez Pam Mueller
