“Quiet Spaces,” featuring photography by Suzanne Schreiber, O.P., opens Sunday, June 16, with a reception in Alfons Gallery from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and artist talk at 2:00 p.m.
Schreiber’s tinted, black-and-white photographs are a result of her contemplative experience that involves seeing beyond surfaces to the illuminations that come from within the ordinary. An Adrian Dominican sister, she sees her photography as a way to create visual poetry that expresses her evolving understanding that everything is connected.
Showing concurrently in St. Joseph Hall, across the vestibule from the Gallery, is “1,000 Cranes for Iraq,” a display of 160 paintings of origami cranes by Sister Barbara Cervenka, O.P. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Iraqi Dominican Sisters’ ministry among within the refugee community there.
