“Quiet Spaces,” featuring photography by Suzanne Schreiber, O.P., showcases tinted, black-and-white images that are a result of Schreiber’s contemplative experience that involves seeing beyond surfaces to the illuminations that come from within the ordinary. An Adrian Dominican sister, she sees her photography as a way to create visual poetry that expresses her evolving understanding that everything is connected.

Showing concurrently in St. Joseph Hall, across the vestibule from the Gallery, is “1,000 Cranes for Iraq,” a display of 160 paintings of origami cranes by Sister Barbara Cervenka, O.P. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the Iraqi Dominican Sisters’ ministry within the refugee community there.

Alfons Gallery and the Cultural Shop are open to the public Wednesday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and by appointment.
