School Sisters of St. Francis to Celebrate Homecoming 2009

School Sisters of St. Francis ~ Celebrating Our Legacy Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is the theme of Homecoming 2009, to be held July 26th at St. Joseph Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Homecoming is a reunion of School Sisters of St. Francis and associates with former sisters, postulants and aspirants to celebrate together the legacy of 135 years of School Sister ministry and outreach to the people of God. Time spent together will include prayer, celebration, tours of the motherhouse, and the sharing of stories and memories with classmates.

Many of the women have kept their strong ties to the School Sisters of St. Francis community. Their care and support is deeply felt and appreciated. Some former members have become associates with the sisters.

“As School Sisters and associates move forward in education and health care, caring for the earth, and peace and justice, we welcome our former sisters, postulants and aspirants to help us carry forth our mission into the future, fostering our Franciscan ideals and values,” said Sister Phyllis Wirtz, chairperson of the Homecoming 2009 Committee.

Homecoming 2009 events are open to School Sisters, associates, former sisters, postulants and aspirants. Registration is necessary. Please contact Sister Phyllis Wirtz, pwirtz@sssf.org for information.

“We were sisters to one another. We lived together and served together in schools, religious education programs, health care, and pastoral ministry. Our sisters have also been highly influential in art, music and in the culinary arts. Many of these ministries continue today,” said Sister Phyllis Wirtz, chairperson of the 2009 Homecoming Committee.
