Alfons Gallery, located in St. Joseph Center in Milwaukee, is hosting a mixed media exhibit entitled, “School Sisters of St. Francis: Celebrating Our Legacy in the Arts.” The exhibit features the work of eight sister-artists.
The opening reception is Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through Jan. 31, 2010, and is free and open to the public The School Sisters of St. Francis St. Joseph Center is located at 1501 S. Layton Blvd. in Milwaukee.
Featured artists include: Sisters Lucinda Hubing (watercolor and sculpture); Roberta Klesener (watercolor); Julie Knotek (watercolor); Janet Petersen (colored pencil); Jane Elyse Russell (oil and watercolor);
Sister Mary Honora Stacy (mixed media); Patricia Michaelin Woeckner (watercolor); and Marjmarie Zuiker (oil). The exhibit continues the School Sisters of St. Francis celebration of 135 years of service and ministry as an international congregation. A Mass in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis will take place at 2:00 PM in St. Joseph Chapel, adjacent to Alfons Gallery.
