Tau Volunteer Nancy Black Campbell

Nancy Black Campbell

Nancy Black Campbell works with a student at Smithson-Craighead Middle School

In the first week of February, Nancy Black Campbell was on her way to Nashville, Tennessee to begin her service as a Tau Volunteer. Retired from the military and recently widowed, Nancy wanted to offer service in the area of education; she also wanted an experience with a faith-based community. Nancy felt a special call when she heard Sister Sandra Smithson describe the needs at Smithson-Craighead Middle School in its first year of operation. There Nancy worked very hard to build the trust of her students; she found that trust needed to be built over time with each student. Strengthened by her personal spirituality and life in the community with the sisters, Nancy Campbell became a gift to Smithson Craighead.
