Sister Terese Louise Hamik

S. Terese Louise Hamik
S. Terese Louise Hamik (Placidia) celebrates 70 years as a School Sister of St. Francis. She was born in Stuart, Nebraska. She has a bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1945) and a diploma in anesthesiology from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois (1951). Sister has lived her religious ministry in health care in Wisconsin. In the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Sister was a medical staff nurse at Sacred Heart Sanitarium in Milwaukee (1941-1949). She served as an anesthetist at Waupun Memorial Hospital (1951-1954), and St. Joseph Hospital in Beaver Dam (1954-1972) where she continued to serve as nurse (Beaver Dam Hospital 1972-1980). Sister served as nurse at Maryhill Retirement Center in Milwaukee (1980-1995) and Sacred Heart Convent in Milwaukee (1995-2002). She tutored at Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services (2002-2007). Sister resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
