Sponsored Ministry Profiles
On Thursday, December 3rd, the staff and Board of Directors of St. Clare Management (SCM) in Milwaukee hosted an Open House to mark the corporation’s 20th anniversary of providing HUD subsidized housing for low-income persons with physical disabilities. Colleagues in the ministry of housing, such as HUD, police officials, the Board of Directors, School Sisters of St. Francis, and auditors, arrived in a steady stream. Also enjoying the celebration were the many vendors who worked with the maintenance staff. Under the direction of Jerome Mommaerts Jr., SCM Property Manager, eight separate Clare Apartment buildings were refurbished. Guests perused photos and displays of two decades of achievements. Clare Towers, located on 29th St. between St. Joseph Center and Sacred Heart Center was available for tours and a visit with a resident. Board members Sisters Joan Brede and Mary Daniels mingled with Executive Director Margie Kidder, staff members, directors, and maintenance and security personnel. Sisters Barbara Kraemer and Helen Butzler heard many compliments from police personnel who work closely with Jennifer Westrick and Tammy Wergin, SCM Service Coordinators, to provide a safe environment for over 160 residents. Many of the conversations centered on how much the corporation has grown in providing “…quality management services to ensure the quality of life, safety, and independence of underserved, low income persons, especially persons with disabilities.” (SCM Mission Statement, June 2009).
