Associate Relationship
Who Are Associates?
Brother Bill Short and associate Gene Suding at the summer Spirituality Conference

Associates are women and men, single or married who choose to join us in a common commitment to the Gospel and to the mission of the Church. They:

  • are 18 year old or older
  • come from diverse cultural and occupational backgrounds
  • hunger for a deeper spirituality and relationship with God
  • are inspired by the ideals of St. Francis and
    St. Clare of Assisi
  • are drawn to the mission of the School Sisters of
    St. Francis
  • find joy in giving of themselves to further Christ’s mission in the world

How Is the Relationship Lived Out?

Associate Michele Martinez

According to the constitutions of the School Sisters of St. Francis, who are an international community of women religious, each associate has a formal relationship with the community. Through mutual support, prayer and collaboration we and our associates enable each other to accomplish the mission which unites us.
