Associate Relationship
Meet Some Associates I am now starting a new role with the School Sisters of St. Francis as a regional minister for the “Invitation to Mission Network” I count the School Sisters of St. Francis as a part of my transition to living a meaningful and productive life as a volunteer. As an associate, I find that the sisters and fellow associates are a strong support giving me affirmation and motivation for my continuing ministry with my family and the elderly. An example of my ministry with the elderly is Elsie, one of my friends whom I treasure for sharing her life and wisdom with me. Elsie turned 100 years old this past October. She was the first representative from Arizona for Al-Anon back in the 1940s when Alcoholics Anonymous was just getting started. Elsie shares her philosophy of “one day at a time” with me. Every Tuesday I visit Elsie, who has macular degeneration, and help her by reading mail, doing her banking and taking her shopping. Elsie is so bright and positive that I consider her my mentor in the lessons of aging. I am now starting a new role with the School Sisters of St. Francis as a regional minister for the “Invitation to Mission Network” in the southwest part of the U.S. The goal of the network is to raise awareness of the mission of the SSSF and to invite people to join us in mission as vowed members, associates and Tau volunteers. I look forward to this new and exciting ministry with the community.
