Associate Relationship
Becoming An Associate

Who can become an associate of the School Sisters of St. Francis?

Christian men and women who...

  • identify with our mission, vision and values;
  • want to join us in a common commitment to the Gospel;
  • desire to join with us in accomplishing a common mission;
  • are interested in ongoing personal growth and spiritual renewal;
  • are 18 years of age or older.

How do I become an associate of the School Sisters of St. Francis?

Once you express a desire to become an associate, you engage in an application and orientation process with the help of a regional associate minister. During this time of preparation, you are invited to develop a stronger relationship with the School Sisters by sharing in liturgical celebrations, prayer, retreats, workshops, meetings and various ministries. There are gatherings that offer discussion, study and reflection about St. Francis, School Sister history and charism, spirituality, mission and ministry.

The associate commitment is ritualized in a simple community celebration. Each School Sister associate signs an agreement specifying the relationship between the associate and the congregation. The commitment is renewable for as long as the relationship is mutually meaningful.
