Assisi Province – South India In the 1960s, more than 30 young women came from Kerala, South India to Germany and entered our community. They were educated as nurses, midwives, kindergarten teachers and parish assistants. A group of these sisters returned to India in 1975 and opened a convent and school in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh in the north. In 1977, another group of Indian sisters began working in Kerala in the south. Since then the community has grown rapidly in both the north and south.
