During Easter Week, March 25 – 29, the Coordinators of the next International Community Experience (ICE) are gathering at St. Joseph Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to plan the next meeting which will take place in the summer of 2009. The Coordinators are: Sister Lisett Maramattathil from North India, Hermana Migdonia Castillo from Latin America and Sister Rose Hacker from the United States.
In 1992 the General Assembly of the School Sisters of St. Francis approved the ICE Program, an interprovincial program for members with perpetual vows. The purpose is to generate enthusiasm for the multicultural identity of the congregation, foster leadership skills in the sisters who participate, deepen the spirit, charism, history and mission of the community and achieve greater understanding and unity among the sisters of all provinces.
The first International Community Experience took place in 1994, followed by other meetings in 1997, 2001 and 2005.
The last International Community Experience was in July 2005, when fourteen participants and three coordinators from the five provinces of the School Sisters of St. Francis gathered for this experience at the Motherhouse of the congregation in Milwaukee.
