St. Joseph Chapel
Preserving our Milwaukee Landmark
The St. Joseph Chapel was designated a Milwaukee landmark in 1973. Our magnificent chapel is located on the grounds of the School Sisters of St. Francis campus. Visitors often comment that "chapel" seems to be a misnomer for this beautiful structure. When they step into the chapel, many people are reminded of the beauty and grandeur of a cathedral. In fact, the chapel was designed with European cathedrals in mind and is the city’s finest example of Romanesque design.
The chapel stands as a testament to the faith of the School Sisters of St. Francis. It is here that sisters celebrate Jubilees, seasonal events, vespers and other significant occasions in our lives. The chapel is a favorite setting in the Milwaukee arts community for choral and instrumental concerts because of the superb acoustics.
