Saint Francis Province – North India

Prince of peace, at this season let the song of the angels be reheard, proclaiming peace on earth to people of good will.

Let your peace rest upon all of the nations and make this world a furnace of your love and an abode of your peace.

We shall enthrone you in our hearts and your power will overflow in us so that our understanding may triumph over ignorance,

our generosity may triumph over indifferences,
our trust may triumph over contempt,
and always truth may triumph over falsehood.

Amen

Father in heaven, our words can hardly express
our emotions, our concerns, our fears.
You know our thoughts and feelings.
You know our helplessness and our powerlessness.
Help us. Let us not be discouraged.
Come to us with your strength which is powerful in the weak.
Speak to us with your eternal word which creates and sustains life.
Show us your ways and assure us that nothing,
neither life nor death, neither powers nor authorities,
neither things present nor things to come
can separate us from your love,
which came into this world forever
with Jesus, our brother and Lord.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Hallowed be thy name,
not mine;
thy kingdom come,
not mine.
Thy will be done,
not mine.
Give us peace with thee,
peace with each other,
peace with ourselves,
and free
us from all fear.

A Prayer for Peace

Dear God, your household does need some tidying up. Please grace us with your vision for your world and send us out to do our bit, as we might with mop and pail or broom and dusting cloth, to help you bring about the order you intend for the world we’re living in.
But give us, first, your grace to sort out our own double thinking, so that we are able to discard our own greediness and distrust of others.

Inspire us to be generous as you are generous. If we are to enter the houses of our brothers and sisters in this world and extend to them the blessing of your peace, let us not fear to own up to our own inconsistencies. Grant that we may find within our own hearts the peace you are asking us to share. Make us true instruments of your peace.

Next, O dear God, we beg you to increase your blessings to our large and unruly earth. Many of your children are dying from fear, are trapped by hatred and greed.  Let us not become cynical or fall into despair. We hold in our hearts and lift up to your loving Providence all who are suffering for lack of peace.

We trust that your Spirit of Peace continually broods over this aching and chaotic world. Dear God, make us instruments of your peace. Amen.

ULAF Province

Give us, Lord, Peace, your Peace each moment.
Peace of not being satisfied;
of not finding the desired goal,
nor the mysterious tree of perennial shade;
of not drinking the water that quenches our thirst.

Give us peace so we can contemplate
everything that is around us at this moment.
May our rivers never lead to the sea.
May we never tire of seeking the newest and longest roads, of climbing mountains, of touching the abyss.
May we never cease to look for your Peace,
having already been installed in its blood and rhythm, the heart.

Amen

Assisi Province - South India

Lord, I hear the roaring of beasts,
hues and woes of birds,
the sounds of vehicles that pass by,
sighs and pants of human folk,
they all say, "SAVE US"!

Lord, I watch the pale faces wrapped with
cries and worries,
strain and stress, hunger and starvation,
hopes and dreams clouded with
pains and sufferings.

Lord, I see the piles of plastic
unwilling to decay but harm to existence.
An endless line of empty pots waiting
for their turn.
The smoke that rises up from
each chimney, a peril to survival.

Lord, I understand it is because of our selfishness,
that all the earth is sooted into pollution.
It is a time of sore distress.

Lord, help me to see one glimpse of brighter skies
to make our life worthwhile on this earth.
I make a humble prayer to spare
our earth and her creatures from all harm.

Amen
