Retirement

The School Sisters of St. Francis have responded to the needs of the times nationally and globally since their founding in 1874. Today’s elderly sisters offered their lives in service to others. Today, with fewer active sisters, we face the dual task of supporting our many retired members while ministering to today’s needs. The average yearly Social Security benefit for each sister is $7,746, and the average cost of skilled nursing care – after Social Security and Medicare benefits – is $34,436. Currently, two-thirds of our retirement costs are unfunded. Your contribution will make a difference in helping the sisters care for their retired members while continuing their active ministry.
