Sisters Program South, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
In the first year of the Sisters Program South drop-in center, 185 Milwaukee women who were victimized by sex trafficking received crisis management, shelter, counseling, and other vital assistance. Partnering with police, medical experts, and the district attorney, the diversion program offers a proven, public health-based alternative to criminalization and incarceration of the victims. Our community is one of the founding ecumenical partners of this initiative. The cost to support this program is $18,000.
