Sister Bernadette Engelhaupt

Sister Bernadette EngelhauptMy Ministry:   People tell me that as a pastoral minister/associate who works with the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), the homebound, faith formation and ministry formation, I have given them hope in the Church when they had lost hope, and a reason to enjoy life when life seemed dreary.  People tell me that I have taught them to pray and develop a relationship with God. Watching others grow is a delight.

What I enjoy:  I find time to relax by reading, sewing, doing handwork, walking in nature, baking, gardening, visiting and always learning new things.

Why I chose to be a School Sister of St. Francis:  My vocation came through my parents’ openness to all vocations; through the esteem my family had for my three aunts who were members of the community; and the joy of the School Sisters of St. Francis who taught me the catechism on Saturday mornings throughout my elementary school years.

Our Community and Future:  Each day I thank God for calling me to the School Sisters of St. Francis because we are a community of sisters who love each other and challenge each other to grow spiritually and in ministry.  As part of an international community, I am challenged in my relationship to all peoples of the world.
