Becoming a Sister

Here are the steps to becoming a School Sister of St. Francis:
 

  • ConnectingConnecting—Talk with a vocation minister to discover how the School Sisters of St. Francis might fit into your life plans.
  • Contact period—Build connections with School Sisters of St. Francis by relating to a contact sister, participating in community events, and spending time with our sisters. 
  • Affiliation—Share community life with our sisters by living with sisters, sharing in community life and prayer while working and maintaining financial independence.
Becoming A Sister
  • Novitiate—Further discern your call from God;  deepen your understanding of the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience; and integrate ministry with your life as a sister.
  • Vowed membership—(Temporary vows extend from one to six years leading to perpetual commitment)
    Share with other sisters in community, praying, supporting and
    encouraging one another while involved in service to others.
