School Sisters of St. Francis are an international community of Franciscan sisters and associates, alive with the call of the Gospel, who unite with others to build a just and peaceful world.

There are more than 1,070 School Sisters in the United States, Europe, Latin America and India. Over 650 School Sisters serve in the United States. "Our mission is to witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ and the presence of the reign of God as we enter into the lives and needs of people, especially the poor. In serving we are served. In the United States, our sisters in active ministry work in the fields of education, health care, pastoral outreach, social services, the fine arts, and service. Others minister in the central houses where many of our sisters live. Our retired School Sisters carry out their important ministry of "prayer and presence."
